Signed is the latest and in my opinion, greatest contemporary romance by author Marni Mann. This story has it all- forbidden romance, angst, intrigue, hints of suspense, scandal, passion and romance. Every page will draw you in deeper and keep you captivated with the chemistry between sassy yet innocent James Ryne and handsome , mysterious Brett Young.
The story started off with a night of hot, steamy relations that was the best ever between Hollywood agent to the stars Brett Young and America’s sweetheart, actress James Ryne. It’s a one night stand that doesn’t get repeated because Brett is worried about the age difference and also about the scandal yet a long distance friendship does form…Brett does care for James and has this attraction for her. Things change because James ends up being a victim of an online graphic sex tape leak which threatens her career. After this happens, her agent and publicist abandon her, then all her current contracts are cancelled and the most heartbreaking of all, Brett leaves her when she needs him the most. James becomes like the walking wounded and beyond devastated, she attempts to take control of her career and her life by signing with a new agency. Color her surprised when she finds out that Brett is the head of the agency. In order to get her career back on track, she had to work with him but will she be able to, considering the past that they have together- the secret one night stand and the pain of him walking away from her. Can Brett actually represent the woman that he has fallen head over heels for?
James and Brett had my heart at the beginning of the story and the emotions were raw, edgy and gritty at times. I felt so bad for James after all she had been thru-the betrayal and the heartbreak. I knew that Brett was the man she truly needed in her life but could Brett see that or would he let things interfere and blind him. This was a definite drama filled story with angst and emotions…oh my heart was rung dry many times. I don’t know how I sat still while I read this story for I was on the edge of my seat. This was so so good. Brett was a dominant, sexy man who fell hard for James as she did for him. And the chemistry, the connection between them was intense. The sexual intensity between them both literally burned my kindle up, that’s how good it was. Ms. Mann has written one heck of a good read that dared not to be missed.

This was a great book with a plot I haven’t read before. Brett is a hot entertainment agent and James is a beautiful actress. They share a steamy night together and continue talking for several weeks. But then the scandal hits and James’ life is turned upside down.

Brett can do some serious dirty talking. That man had me swooning and he wasn’t even talking to me. He's serious about his job and wants the best for his clients. James may be a little younger than him, but her age never played a factor and she acted extremely mature for her age. Once the dust cleared, I admired how she handled everything and appreciated her drive to repair her career. What happened to James was so unfair and part of the story is trying to find out who’s behind it. Their sexy scenes together were smokin and I loved that we were able to get both POVs. It always helps me to feel closer to the characters when I’m able to know what both parties are thinking and read how they’re feeling. I also enjoyed the secondary characters, especially Eve who is James’ best friend.

After the ending, there’s a place to sign up for the author’s newsletter where you can get a bonus scene for doing so. I’ll definitely be reading more from this author in the future.
Watching E! Entertainment isn’t even as exciting as reading this book. James is on her professional way to the top but has recently had a scandal that no actress wants to have happen to them, unless they are a Kardashian. The only one that can help is someone that knows James in the biblical sense and he’s not so sure this professional mix is a good idea. Which is why this makes for an oh-so bumpy and sexy ride.

If there is one thing that is a common denominator between most of (because Memoirs) Marni Mann’s books, it is sex. Not just sex, but like hot and dirty and most definitely not your cookie cutter sessions. They are something to write home about. Something unique to Marni that you won’t forget and you haven’t read before. Yummy, even. Yep. Just... really good stuff.

Take away that and Marni’s books all differ vastly but are all so very, very good and Signed isn’t any different. It kept me flipping pages and kept my emotions high for the characters. I love a story that grips me and doesn’t let me go and Signed did that for me. I felt sumptuous as we lived the high life of an actress, as close as I will ever get but Marni did a brilliant job at painting a vivid picture of the high life. I felt angry and I wanted retribution most of the time because I cared so deeply for James and her personal battles. I laughed at the relationship between James and her best friend, Eve. We all have that spit fire friend that runs their mouth, if you don’t than you just might be that friend. Oh, and the sex scenes... did we already talk about those? They are pretty great. *sigh*

While definitely on the lighter side of Marni’s career, I’m not mad about it. I loved, loved, loved it. When I read the ending paragraphs I had a stupid smile on my face with my kindle clutched to my chest. That is the perfect ending to a book.
